What is the history of New Balance?

In Boston, Massachusetts, New Balance was founded by William J. Riley as New Balance Arch Support Company. Riley was inspired by watching chickens balancing their three-prolonged feet in his backyard (it is believed so), which led to the production of his first three-support point product. He mainly focused on manufacturing arch support and several other shoe accessories meant to improve shoe quality and fit.

Arthur Hall was hired as a salesman in 1927 and became a partner in the company in 1934. At this point, Arthur Hall focused on selling arch support to people, especially workers who are used to standing for long periods. The company was later sold to Hall’s daughter Eleanor in 1956.

New Balance arch support became famous by 1960 among athletes, who even requested tailored sneakers. Because of that, Eleanor was inspired to come up with the first New Balance sneaker design, the Trackster, manufactured by her husband, Kidds, and released in 1961.

The brand was bought by Jim Davies during the 1972 Boston Marathon and transformed New Balance into one of the largest brands worldwide. The new balance started to use model numbers instead of names for their sneakers to define the activity designed for, the shoe type, and if it was for speed or stability.

The first New Balance sneaker, the 320, was launched in 1976 with the now popular N logo. New Balance had acquired global success by the 80s and started producing clothing and walking shoes. They released their most popular sneaker, the 574 in 1988. Now, the company makes apparel and a plethora of sneakers and is still headed by Jim Davies, headquartered in Boston, MA.

What are the main New Balance models?

Almost everyone knows something about New Balance. It is among the most instantly recognised brand worldwide, responsible for some of the classiest and most iconic sneakers ever made on earth.

While you might spot a New Balance trainer from afar, identifying the exact model or style number can still be a problem for many. The brand assigns number series to their shoes instead of traditional names, making it hard to keep tabs on the various silhouettes.

Also, the styles of different models might seem the same, with some falling into the same families, meaning the design are seemingly near-identical with a subtle important difference. To select the perfect New Balance sneakers, you need to know the available models in the market.

 Why choose New Balance shoes?

From being comfortable to lightweight, New Balance models are the best choice whether you want high-quality running shoes or all-day wear shoes. New balance is well-cushioned compared to cheaper running shoes. It uses fabric and leather combinations to develop sturdier and more durable sneakers that offer the support you need.

New Balance comes in multiple colour varieties, from neutral to bright colours. Therefore, there is always something for everyone and every style. Also, you can benefit from different sizes, from wide to narrow, which allow room for custom orthotics or inserts.

 When to wear New Balance?

New Balance is ideal for fitness walkers. They are well known for their quality, cushioning, stability and comfort. This brand features an EVA foam midsole and thick sole (New Balance 237) that cushion every step, suitable for people spending all day on their feet.

NB 860 is lightweight, comfortable, and versatile, suitable for recovery days and long runs. Also, models like NB 880 are recommended to people with foot challenges since they offer a wide toe box that places less compression and stress on the forefoot. You can wear New Balance while performing activities that don’t require heavy cushioning, like gymnastics or weight lifting.

What are the available colors for New Balance sneakers?
