C. & J. Clarks International Ltd, famously trading as Clarks, is one of the top British international shoe retailers and manufacturers. It was founded by Two Quaker brothers (James and Cyrus Clarks) in 1825 in Street village, Somerset, England (the company is still headquartered there). Clarks have more than 1400 franchises and branded stores worldwide and also sells through third-party.

The Clarks' eureka story began almost 2 centuries ago by making rugs from sheepskins. The brothers used to make slippers out of the offcuts. The shoe model Brown Petersburg was the first Clarks shoes to be made.

Nathan Clark designed the first and famously known desert boots, inspired by the bazaar's boots worn in Cairo in the 2nd world war by British Army Officers.
