Nike, from sport to fashion
Created in 1972, in less than one year after its creation Nike was among the essential players in the world of sport trainers. With the "Waffle" design launched in 1973, Nike had created the first basketball trainer with a shock absorber and rebound effect. A real revolution that made Nike one of the leaders of the sport trainer market. Their logo, the "Swoosh" was created in the image of Nike's wing, the Greek goddess of victory. A destiny written in the stars to equip the world's greatest athletes, Nike is today one of the most sought after brands among trainer addicts!

What is the history of Nike?

Nike, Inc was founded as Blue Ribbon sports in 1964 by Bill Bowerman (Oregon University’s track and field coach) and Phil Knight (his former student). The Blue Ribbon Sports Company was headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon. The first retail shop was opened in 1966, and launch the first Nike brand in 1972.

Two years later, after being renamed Nike, Inc., in 1978, the company went public. Now, Nike has distributors and outlets in more than 170 countries with its curved checkmark logo called the Swoosh that has earned worldwide recognition. Nike diversified and continuously expanded its business from the late 80s through different acquisitions like shoe companies:
